Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions, the following terms carry the meanings set out below:

Nature of Services

Quietyears provides educational and organisational sessions. All sessions are structured around the reading of publicly available documents and the organisation of household paperwork. Sessions are not a source of financial, legal, or professional advice of any kind.

Session leaders read from publicly available materials and direct participants' attention to pages and sections within those materials. They do not interpret documents in the context of any individual's personal circumstances, nor do they make recommendations about financial decisions, products, or institutional accounts.

Participants who require advice relating to their own pension arrangements, financial accounts, or legal position are directed to engage a qualified professional. The services offered by Quietyears are organisational and educational in nature only.

Booking and Confirmation

A booking is not confirmed until Quietyears has sent a written confirmation to the Participant by email, specifying the session date, time, location, and programme name. An enquiry submitted through the website contact form does not itself constitute a confirmed booking.

Quietyears may decline a booking request at its discretion, including where a session has reached its stated maximum capacity or where the requested programme is not available on the dates requested. In such cases, Quietyears will notify the Participant promptly and may list alternative dates where available.

Participants booking on behalf of a household or group are responsible for ensuring that all members of their household or group have been informed of these Terms and Conditions before attending.

Fees and Payment

The fees for each programme are as follows:

All fees are listed in Malaysian Ringgit (RM) and include any applicable taxes at the rate current at the time of booking. Quietyears reserves the right to update fees with reasonable notice. The fee applicable to a booking is the fee in effect at the time the written confirmation is sent.

Payment instructions will be included in the written booking confirmation. Full payment is required before the first session of a programme, or before the single session in the case of the Personal Notebook Setup. Sessions will not proceed where payment has not been received.

Quietyears does not collect payment through this website. Payment is made via the method specified in the booking confirmation.

Cancellation and Rescheduling

Cancellations and rescheduling requests must be submitted in writing to [email protected] or by telephone. The following conditions apply:

Where Quietyears cancels a session due to circumstances outside its control, Participants will be offered an alternative date or a full refund of the fee paid for that session. Quietyears' liability in such cases is limited to the refund of the fee paid.

For multi-session programmes, cancellation of the entire programme prior to the commencement of the first session is subject to the same schedule above. Once a programme has commenced, fees for completed sessions are non-refundable.

Session Conduct

Sessions are conducted at a slow and deliberate pace, in keeping with the educational and organisational nature of Quietyears' programmes. Participants are expected to read along at the pace set by the session leader and to raise questions within the session structure.

Session leaders will not address questions that fall outside the scope of the programme materials, including questions about individual financial accounts, investment products, or legal rights. Participants who ask such questions will be directed to contact the relevant authority or engage a qualified professional directly.

Quietyears reserves the right to ask a Participant to leave a session where their conduct disrupts the experience of other participants or requires the session to depart from its stated educational and organisational scope. In such cases, no refund will be issued for the affected session.

Materials and Intellectual Property

Printed materials distributed during sessions — including reading logs, reference lists, and folder structures — are prepared by Quietyears and remain the intellectual property of Quietyears. Participants may use these materials for their own personal and household organisation purposes.

Participants may not reproduce, distribute, or adapt Quietyears' session materials for commercial purposes or distribute them to individuals who have not attended a Quietyears session, without the prior written consent of Quietyears.

All publicly available documents read during sessions remain the property of their respective issuing authorities. Quietyears does not claim any ownership over publicly available documents produced by government agencies, pension authorities, or regulatory bodies.

Limitation of Liability

Quietyears' sessions and programmes are organisational and educational in nature. Nothing produced, distributed, or discussed in a session constitutes financial, investment, legal, or professional advice. Participants are responsible for any decisions they make regarding their own household paperwork, pension arrangements, or financial accounts.

Quietyears' liability to any Participant is limited to the fee paid for the session or programme directly at issue. Quietyears will not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or economic loss arising from a Participant's attendance at, or reliance on the content of, any session or programme.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits Quietyears' liability for death or personal injury caused by its own negligence, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded under applicable Malaysian law.

Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from or in connection with these Terms and Conditions, including disputes about their formation, validity, interpretation, or performance, shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.

Quietyears and the Participant will each take reasonable steps to resolve any dispute informally before initiating formal proceedings. Disputes may be raised in writing to [email protected].

Amendments

Quietyears may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The version in effect at the time of a booking confirmation governs the booking to which it relates.

Updated Terms and Conditions will be published on this page with a revised date. Participants who have made a booking before the revised date are not affected by the revision for that booking, unless they expressly agree to be bound by the revised terms.
